Socio-economic analysis of environmental policies implementation
NILU Polska participates in scientific projects financed by European Commission regarding long-term projections of pollution emissions and assessment of ambient air management programs.
Knowledge about future levels of air pollution is one of fundamental information in analysis of environmental strategies. Therefore national emissions of selected pollutants in main economic sectors are projected. NILU Polska has experience in preparation of mercury, heavy metals, dioxins, PCB and greenhouse gases emissions scenarios.
Emission reduction scenarios describe combination of methods expected for particular industrial processes in relevant period. Estimated emission reduction results from implementation of current legislation – European and international (base scenarios) and emerging techniques (alternative scenarios). Then projected emissions are used in models of air pollution dispersion for estimation of air quality changes. Analysis of costs for scenarios implementation and health benefits from improvement of ambient air quality is final result of works.
